RBU

Rescue Backup (RBU) is a term commonly used by rescue organizations to describe that while you, as the adopter, will receive support and guidance throughout the entire adoption process, if for any reason it does not work out, the animal will be returned to Amos and rehomed.

Amos offers a lifetime RBU for all our animals, ensuring that we are there for them throughout their lives.

The RBU process involves the return of the animal from the adopter to Amos, which requires signing an RBU contract that relinquishes ownership rights. If the animal has been in your care for more than three months, a veterinary health check will be required as part of the RBU process. This ensures that potential new adopters are fully informed of the animal’s health status. The cost of this routine health check is the responsibility of the original adopter.

Depending on the reason for the RBU, Amos will aim to remove the animal from your care as promptly as possible, either rehoming it appropriately or placing it in a foster home for behavioural assessment.

While Amos strives to facilitate this process efficiently, limited resources, funding, and available foster homes may occasionally necessitate the use of kennels in emergency situations. For this reason, it is crucial that all animals are kept up to date with vaccinations and kennel cough prevention to ensure their acceptance into emergency kennels or multi-pet foster homes.

Please be aware that if immediate removal is necessary, the costs associated with transporting and kennelling the animal will fall to the adopter until a suitable foster home or rehoming solution can be arranged.
