Description
Tomi has been waiting for his permanent home since he was a tiny kitten.
He was rescued when he was only a few weeks old, alone and vulnerable with an eye infection that required treatment. Thankfully, it was caught and treated successfully, and his eye healed completely.
That difficult beginning is now long behind him, but unfortunately Tomi is still waiting for the permanent family we hoped he would find much sooner.
During that time, his personality has had plenty of opportunity to develop, and one thing has remained very clear: Tomi absolutely loves people.
He is naturally affectionate and actively seeks human interaction. Tomi is not the type of cat who simply happens to live in the same house as his humans and occasionally appears at feeding time. He wants a relationship with the people around him.
He enjoys curling up on laps, rubbing himself against people’s legs, following his humans around the home, and generally making sure he is never too far away from whatever they are doing. Attention is always welcome, and Tomi is perfectly happy being spoiled with affection.
He has a playful side too.
Tomi enjoys having opportunities to play and interact, and regular play sessions are a good way to keep him active and entertained. Once he has finished playing, however, he is equally capable of settling down and enjoying a quieter part of the day beside his humans.
This balance between playfulness and affection makes him an enjoyable cat to share a home with. He can participate when something interesting is happening and then happily relax when the household becomes quieter.
Tomi is also very social with other cats.
He gets along well with feline company, forms friendships easily, and enjoys interacting and playing with other cats. He is comfortable sharing his environment and can take part in playful chases and games before settling down again.
Another characteristic that has followed Tomi throughout his time in care is his unusual talent in front of a camera.
Some cats immediately turn away the moment someone attempts to photograph them. Tomi seems to have received a different set of instructions.
He is remarkably photogenic and has a habit of positioning himself in ways that make it appear as though he is deliberately posing. Whether he is stretched out somewhere comfortable, looking directly towards the camera, or simply sitting and observing what is happening, Tomi regularly manages to produce photographs that look far more planned than they actually were.
Of course, being photogenic is only a small part of what makes him special.
The much more important part of Tomi’s personality is how genuinely affectionate and people orientated he is. He has spent most of his life waiting for the opportunity to direct all that affection towards his own permanent family.
Because his original profile was written so long ago, Tomi should no longer be thought of as the tiny rescued kitten or young boy he once was. He has grown up while waiting for adoption, and his future family now has the advantage of being able to see much more clearly the personality of the cat they would be welcoming into their home.
He is social, affectionate, playful, comfortable around other cats, and very interested in being part of his humans’ everyday lives.
Tomi would be particularly well suited to someone who wants an interactive and loving cat rather than a very independent one. He enjoys attention and physical affection and would appreciate a home where there is plenty of time for cuddles, play, and simply being together.
After spending so much of his life in care, Tomi is not waiting to become a wonderful family cat. His character is already there. What he is still missing is the permanent home and people with whom he can finally share it.
