Silver

Silver

Silver is an affectionate and playful tomcat with a big personality, an enormous purr, and a surprisingly intuitive nature. Born in the countryside, he has decided that life inside a warm home with plenty of cuddles suits him much better. He loves interactive play, particularly feather wands and toys that allow him to chase and hunt, but he is just as enthusiastic about curling up with his human. Silver once sensed when his foster carer was experiencing a panic attack and climbed into her lap, purring loudly until she began to feel calmer. He is curious, energetic, and a natural hunter, so he needs a secure indoor home and must not live with pet birds or rodents.

Description

Silver may have been born in the countryside, but he has discovered the comforts of home life and has absolutely no desire to pretend that cuddles are beneath him.

He is a confident, affectionate cat with plenty of personality and a particularly impressive purr. Silver enjoys being close to people and is very happy receiving physical affection, making him a good match for someone who genuinely wants an interactive cat rather than one who spends most of his time keeping to himself.

There is also a particularly sensitive side to Silver that his foster carer discovered unexpectedly.

While she was alone and experiencing a panic attack, Silver appeared to recognise that something was different. He climbed into her lap and began purring loudly, remaining there while she calmed down.

We cannot know exactly what Silver understood in that moment, but his response meant an enormous amount to his foster carer. She remains incredibly grateful that he chose to stay close when she needed comfort.

When Silver is not busy cuddling, he has plenty of energy to put to use.

He loves to play and has a strong interest in toys that imitate prey. Mice, birds, lizards, and similar toys immediately appeal to his hunting instincts. He also enjoys balls that make bird sounds, although interactive wand toys are the clear winners.

Give Silver a feather wand or a wand with a tail and put a human on the other end, and he is very happy.

Interactive play should be a regular part of life in his future home. Silver enjoys the combination of chasing, stalking, and pouncing, and having someone actively play with him makes the experience even better. Regular play will give him an appropriate outlet for his energy and natural hunting behaviour.

Those hunting instincts are worth taking seriously.

Silver is a natural hunter and would be very interested in any bird or mouse unfortunate enough to find its way inside his home. For this reason, Silver is not suitable for a household with pet rodents or birds such as parrots. Even secure enclosures should not be considered enough to remove the risk presented by a determined cat with a strong prey drive.

Silver is also extremely curious about the outside world.

One of his favourite activities is spending time on the balcony, where he can watch birds, observe whatever is happening below, and generally keep track of the world around him.

Any balcony Silver has access to must be completely and securely netted.

A small opening should not be dismissed as something he probably will not notice. Silver is curious and determined enough that if there is a gap, he is likely to find it and attempt to explore beyond it. Windows and other potential escape points should also be kept secure.

This curiosity is an important part of his character. Silver likes having things to watch, investigate, chase, and interact with. A future home that provides plenty of enrichment will suit him particularly well. Window watching areas, secure balcony access where available, scratching posts, climbing opportunities, toys, and regular interactive play will all give him appropriate ways to remain occupied.

After the activity is finished, however, Silver is more than happy to return to one of his other favourite hobbies: cuddling.

He has a lovely combination of physical energy and genuine affection. He can throw himself into a play session and then settle down with his human, bringing out the enormous purr that has become such a recognisable part of him.

Silver would suit someone looking for a cat who will actively participate in their life. His future adopter should enjoy playing with him, provide appropriate outlets for his hunting instincts, keep his environment secure, and be equally enthusiastic about the quieter moments when Silver decides it is time to settle down together.

He is affectionate, curious, playful, observant, and capable of being remarkably sensitive to the person beside him. Silver has already shown his foster carer just how comforting his presence can be, and he is now ready to bring that very large purr, energetic play sessions, and serious enthusiasm for cuddles into a permanent home of his own.
