Description
This boy approaches life with an unbelievable level of confidence, bravery, and pure joy. Despite being completely blind, Norman navigates spaces with remarkable ease and curiosity. New environments do not intimidate him, changes do not overwhelm him, and he never seems to sit around feeling sorry for himself. Quite the opposite, actually. Norman treats every room like an adventure waiting to happen.
He explores fearlessly, memorizing layouts incredibly quickly and moving around with impressive confidence. One of his favorite hobbies is climbing, and his blindness certainly has not informed him that he’s supposed to avoid heights. He happily scales the tallest cat trees he can find, balancing and navigating them with surprising skill and determination. Watching him confidently reach the highest perch in the room while sighted cats hesitate below him is honestly something special.
Norman is also deeply affectionate and incredibly people-oriented. He absolutely loves physical closeness and has perfected the art of climbing onto humans like a tiny furry mountaineer. Shoulders are his favorite place to perch and he will happily sit there like a parrot, supervising life from above while purring away contentedly. He adores cuddles, seeks out affection constantly, and forms strong bonds with the people around him.
Socially, Norman is fantastic with other animals. He plays actively with other cats and is surprisingly confident during play sessions, often charging around enthusiastically chasing his feline friends despite being completely blind. He can sometimes be a little full-on in his excitement because he plays with total commitment and zero hesitation but it all comes from pure joy and enthusiasm rather than aggression. He simply loves interaction and wants to be involved in everything.
He also has a wonderfully relaxed relationship with dogs and happily sleeps cuddled up next to even the biggest ones. His trusting nature and lack of fear allow him to integrate beautifully into multi-animal households, especially ones with friendly, playful pets who appreciate his unique personality.
Norman does, however, have chronic skin problems that will require ongoing management for the rest of his life. He is prone to scratching himself excessively, sometimes badly enough to cause bleeding, and he therefore requires lifelong corticosteroid treatment to keep his condition under control and maintain his comfort. His future family will need to be prepared for the financial and practical commitment of managing a chronic medical condition and ensuring regular veterinary care.
Physically, Norman is also a little smaller than expected for his age, which only adds to his permanently kitten-like charm. But what he lacks in size, he more than makes up for in personality. He fills every room with life, confidence, curiosity, and affection.
There is something incredibly inspiring about Norman. He simply refuses to let blindness or medical challenges define him. He climbs, explores, plays, cuddles, and lives with more confidence than many fully healthy animals ever do. He does not see himself as limited in any way and anyone lucky enough to know him quickly stops seeing those limitations too.
