Neriz

Neriz

Neriz is a sweet and gentle young cat who was rescued from the streets alongside her sister Tirza. She is the smaller of the two sisters and naturally allows the bigger and braver Tirza to take the lead, often taking reassurance from having her nearby. Neriz enjoys her sister’s company and happily accepts Tirza’s regular grooming and attention, but the girls are not a bonded pair and can be adopted either separately or together. Neriz is ready to leave her difficult beginning behind and discover the security and comfort of having a permanent home.

Description

Neriz and her sister Tirza were rescued together from the streets, where they had already experienced a very different beginning from kittens raised in the safety of a home.

The sisters are the same age, but Neriz is noticeably smaller than Tirza. Their difference is not only physical. Tirza naturally became the braver and more confident sister, while Neriz has been happy to let her take on that role.

When they are together, Neriz often benefits from Tirza’s confidence. If something unfamiliar is happening, having her sister nearby gives her the opportunity to observe before deciding how she feels about the situation herself.

Their relationship has a particularly sweet dynamic. Tirza regularly grooms Neriz, taking on the role of the protective bigger sister despite the fact that they are the same age. Neriz seems perfectly happy with this arrangement and enjoys the attention.

The girls enjoy spending time together, sharing their environment, resting near each other, and having another familiar cat around. However, they are not dependent on one another.

This is an important distinction when considering their adoption.

Neriz and Tirza are not a bonded pair who would struggle emotionally if separated. While we would be delighted to see them find a home together, we also understand how difficult it can be to find an adopter able to take two cats at once. We therefore do not want either sister to lose the opportunity for an excellent home simply because someone is only able to adopt one.

Neriz can be adopted independently from Tirza.

If someone does have room in their home and heart for both sisters, they would already have the advantage of adopting two cats who know each other extremely well and genuinely enjoy one another’s company. Their existing relationship would give them familiarity while adjusting to a new environment, and Neriz would continue having the confident sister she has known throughout her life nearby.

If adopted separately, Neriz should simply be given appropriate time to establish her own confidence without Tirza taking the lead.

Moving from rescue into a permanent home will introduce her to new people, smells, sounds, routines, and surroundings. A calm introduction will allow her to investigate everything gradually rather than expecting her to immediately understand that she is safe.

Providing hiding areas, comfortable beds, elevated spaces, scratching posts, and plenty of appropriate toys will allow Neriz to choose when she wants to explore and when she would prefer some quiet time. Positive interactions and predictable routines will help her understand what life in her new family looks like.

Regular play will also be important. Toys that encourage chasing, pouncing, climbing, and problem solving can help build confidence while providing the physical and mental stimulation a young cat needs.

Having spent the beginning of her life on the streets, Neriz has never had the certainty of knowing that one particular home and family will always be hers. Her rescue gave her safety, and having Tirza beside her has given her a familiar presence throughout that transition.

The next stage of her life is about allowing Neriz to develop as an individual.

Whether she is adopted alongside Tirza or on her own, she deserves a patient family who will give her the security, affection, and time she needs to settle into permanent home life and show them the personality of the smaller sister who has spent so much of her life standing beside her confident protector.
