Now in foster care in Scotland, they’ve blossomed into their own unique selves and Marmaduke has shown us just how special he truly is. Where Elphaba is quiet and contemplative, Marmaduke is outgoing, easygoing, and endlessly sociable. He’s a fluffy tank with a gentle soul and a love for attention. He believes every hand should be petting him, every brush should be grooming him, and every conversation should, ideally, be about him. Marmaduke thrives in the spotlight and will happily flop onto his back or press his face into your hands for more cuddles. He has an interesting temperament that makes him an absolute joy to live with. Marmaduke takes it all in stride. He’s patient, affectionate and wonderfully forgiving, the kind of cat who would rather purr through an unexpected belly rub than protest. His easygoing nature makes him a perfect match for a calm household where he can receive the love and attention he craves and deserves. When it comes to playtime, Marmaduke is not exactly an athlete, but he is a charmer. He’s a bit slow to get started, often needing encouragement (and maybe a feather wand waved enticingly under his nose), but once he gets going, he enjoys batting a ball down the hallway or chasing a toy mouse with dignified enthusiasm. He’s not one for zoomies, he’s more of a “roll-and-reach” kind of player. After a few minutes of fun, he’s content to settle down next to his humans, often on a desk, or right in the middle of whatever you’re doing. He might even try to help with your work by sitting directly on your keyboard, of course. Marmaduke’s only “flaw” is his need to be the centre of attention. He can be a bit possessive when it comes to people, food, or playtime, especially around his sister. If she’s doing something interesting, Marmaduke immediately wants in on the action and preferably to take over. He’s not aggressive, just a little overbearing in his enthusiasm, so if rehomed with other cats, they should be tolerant companions who won’t mind his larger-than-life personality barging into their personal space. As a Persian, Marmaduke requires regular grooming and care, something he actually enjoys because it involves his favourite thing: you! His thick, luxurious coat needs daily brushing to stay smooth and free of tangles, and his eyes should be gently cleaned each day to prevent tear staining (a common trait in the breed). Fortunately, Marmaduke is patient and cooperative during grooming sessions, especially if there are treats or chin rubs involved. His calm, trusting nature makes maintaining his gorgeous coat an easy and even enjoyable part of his routine. Marmaduke and his sister are both a bit picky when it comes to food, true Persians with refined tastes! They prefer pâté-style wet food such as Purina Gourmet Gold, though they’re less fussy about dry food and do well on Royal Canin Persian kibble. Once he finds a food he loves, Marmaduke tucks in contentedly, his soft purr rumbling like an engine of satisfaction. While most cats love sinking into a pile of blankets or curling up on the couch, Marmaduke prefers the opposite, a cool, hard surface like a scratching board or a windowsill. It’s not uncommon to find him stretched out regally on a hard floor, looking perfectly content, his glorious coat fanned out around him like a lion’s mane. Marmaduke is not just a cat, he’s a character. He’s affectionate, charming, and larger than life, with a heart as soft as his fur. He’s looking for a home where he’ll be loved for his gentle nature and doted on for his devotion. He doesn’t ask for much just attention, affection, and a few cool places to nap.
