Hani

Hani

Hani is a remarkable dog with a heart as big as her story. A mixed-breed beauty with soulful eyes and a gentle spirit, Hani doesn’t let her disability define her, instead, she embraces life with a sense of joy, resilience, and grace that inspires everyone she meets. Though paralyzed in her hind legs, she has adapted beautifully to her circumstances and now lives a happy, fulfilled life with the help of her wheelchair.

Description

Hani is currently in a loving foster home, where she resides in an apartment and proves every day that being differently-abled is not a limitation, it’s just a different way of moving through the world. She is fully toilet trained and not incontinent, which means she knows when to go outside and can hold it until it’s time. This makes her daily care much easier than many people expect when they hear “handicapped dog.”

Her wheelchair is her freedom. When she’s strapped into it, she’s off like the wind, curious, playful, and energetic. Whether she’s exploring new paths during a walk, greeting friends with a wagging tail, or simply enjoying the breeze on her face, she moves confidently and joyfully. When indoors, she can get around without the wheelchair using a drag bag or even bare if the floors are soft, and she’s comfortable. Her foster family ensures she has smooth, clean areas to move around in, and she rewards them with affection and loyalty every single day.

Despite what she’s been through, Hani is one of the friendliest dogs you could meet. She thrives on human companionship, loves gentle affection, and will happily rest by your side or lean into your hand for pets. She is also incredibly social with other animals, she lives harmoniously with both cats and dogs and often seeks out their company for play or rest. She isn’t dominant or reactive, and she brings a peaceful presence to any multi-pet household.

Caring for a paralyzed dog like Hani may sound daunting at first but it’s truly manageable with the right setup and mindset. She needs a routine, some gentle cleaning of her drag bag if used indoors, and regular time in her wheelchair so she can stay active and keep her muscles strong. Like all dogs, she needs love, playtime, enrichment and someone who sees her for who she is, not what she’s lost. She doesn’t need pity, she needs a partner, a family, someone who will champion her as she’s already championed herself.

Her ideal home would be someone who understands or is open to learning about the needs of handicapped dogs, someone who can give her the companionship and structure that will let her thrive. She doesn’t require a garden, as she does very well in an apartment but access to safe outdoor walks in her wheelchair is important, and of course a garden would be a big advantage. She enjoys getting out and experiencing the world, just like any other dog.

Hani is a living testament to how animals can overcome trauma and physical adversity with dignity, strength, and love. Her spirit is unbreakable, her personality is delightful, and her heart is open, ready to bond deeply with the person or family willing to open theirs in return.

If you’re looking for a best friend who will inspire you every day, who will bring joy, resilience, and gratitude into your life, then Hani is waiting to meet you. Give her the home she deserves, she’s already proven how much she can give in return.
