Description
Dominic is the kind of cat who believes human attention is not simply something to enjoy. It is something he is entitled to receive whenever he decides the time is right.
And Dominic decides the time is right quite often.
He is an incredibly affectionate cat with a serious love of cuddles. If Dominic wants attention, telling him that you are busy is unlikely to achieve very much. You can move him away, tell him no, and attempt to continue whatever you were doing, but Dominic is remarkably persistent.
He will come back.
And if that attempt is unsuccessful, he will probably come back again.
Dominic does not give up easily when there are cuddles at stake. Eventually, his preferred solution is for his human to accept defeat, stop what they are doing, and give him the undivided attention he was requesting in the first place.
For someone looking for a very affectionate cat, Dominic certainly fulfils the brief. His future adopter should genuinely enjoy having a cat who wants frequent physical affection and who is comfortable making his wishes very clear.
Despite his determination when he wants attention, Dominic is not constantly active or looking for entertainment.
Once he is satisfied or nobody is available for cuddles, he is perfectly happy to find somewhere soft and comfortable and settle down. A cosy bed, blanket, sofa, or another suitably comfortable location is enough to keep him content while he waits for his next opportunity to get someone’s attention.
This gives Dominic a lovely balance. He can be extremely persistent when interacting with his humans, but he also knows how to switch off and relax.
Dominic is also very comfortable around other animals.
He is great with cats and dogs and is accustomed to sharing his environment with them. This makes him suitable for consideration by homes that already have resident animals, provided introductions are handled sensibly and gradually as they would be with any new pet.
His ability to get along with both species means he does not need to be the only animal in his future home. While human affection appears to be particularly important to him, he is perfectly comfortable having animal friends around him as well.
Dominic also has one small physical characteristic that future adopters should know about.
The very tip of his tail has previously been broken. It is barely noticeable and does not cause him any problems or discomfort. It is simply part of Dominic and has no meaningful effect on his everyday life.
Personality wise, Dominic is fairly straightforward.
He likes other animals. He likes comfortable places. Most importantly, he really, really likes people.
His ideal home would be with someone who actively wants an affectionate cat rather than simply tolerating one. Dominic is unlikely to understand why a laptop, book, television programme, household task, or anything else should take priority when he has decided he requires cuddles.
Anyone adopting him should therefore be prepared for a certain amount of persistence.
When he is not busy demanding affection, Dominic is a relaxed and easygoing presence who will happily find somewhere soft and settle himself down. He does not need to be entertained every moment of the day, but when he decides it is time for human interaction, he certainly makes his intentions known.
Dominic would suit a home looking for a sociable cat who can live alongside cats and dogs, enjoys plenty of downtime, and has an enormous appetite for human affection. His slightly unusual tail tip is barely noticeable, but his determination to get cuddles certainly is not.
For Dominic, the arrangement is very simple: provide somewhere soft to sleep, some animal friends if you have them, and be prepared to eventually surrender whatever you are doing when he decides it is cuddle time.
