Description
Tirza and her sister Neriz were rescued together from the streets, where they had already learned to rely on their instincts and assess the world around them carefully.
Despite being sisters of the same age, there is a noticeable difference between them. Tirza is the larger of the two and has naturally developed into the more confident sister. She often behaves like Neriz’s protector, keeping an eye on what is happening around them and approaching situations with a mixture of bravery and intelligence.
Tirza is generally the first to find her confidence when something new happens. She is curious and capable, but she is not reckless. Her experience on the streets appears to have given her a sensible degree of caution, and she knows when to observe something before deciding whether it is safe.
This balance between confidence and caution is an important part of Tirza’s personality. She is brave enough to explore and engage with the world around her, but intelligent enough not to rush blindly into unfamiliar situations.
Her relationship with Neriz also shows a particularly gentle side of her character.
Tirza loves grooming her sister and regularly takes time to clean and fuss over her. It is one of the clearest examples of the caring role she naturally assumes when they are together. They enjoy spending time in each other’s company, playing, resting, and sharing their environment.
However, it is important to distinguish a close sibling relationship from a bonded pair.
Tirza and Neriz are not dependent on one another and do not need to be adopted together. We know that finding a suitable home for two cats can be considerably more difficult than finding one for a single cat, and we do not want either sister to miss an excellent home simply because an adopter cannot take both.
For that reason, applications are welcome from people interested in adopting Tirza individually as well as those who may wish to offer both sisters a home.
If adopted together, they already know each other extremely well and genuinely enjoy sharing their lives. Tirza will no doubt continue grooming Neriz and taking her self appointed responsibilities as the bigger sister seriously. If they are adopted separately, however, both are capable of adjusting to lives of their own.
As with any cat moving from rescue into a permanent home, Tirza should be given time to understand her new surroundings. Her confident personality may help her adjust, but even brave cats can become cautious when everything familiar suddenly changes. Allowing her to explore gradually and providing comfortable hiding places, elevated resting areas, scratching posts, toys, and predictable routines will help her establish herself without unnecessary pressure.
Tirza’s intelligence also means that enrichment will be important. Interactive toys, opportunities to climb and investigate, puzzle based activities, and regular play will give her an appropriate outlet for her curiosity. A clever cat who has spent part of her life navigating the streets is likely to appreciate having interesting things to do once she is safely indoors.
There is a lovely balance to Tirza’s character. She can be confident without being careless, independent while still enjoying her sister’s company, and protective while showing that softer side whenever she settles down to groom Neriz.
Whether she finds a home alongside her sister or begins a new chapter independently, Tirza is ready for something neither of them had while surviving on the streets: a permanent home where she no longer needs to be responsible for keeping herself safe.
