Description
Asera’s life began under incredibly difficult circumstances. As a very young puppy, she was found beside the road after being hit by a car. One of her back legs had been crushed beyond repair, and although months of veterinary treatment, rehabilitation, and dedicated care were invested in trying to save it, the damage was simply too severe and the leg eventually had to be amputated.
Her recovery was long and challenging. During much of her puppyhood, Asera was confined while her body healed, unable to play with other dogs or experience a normal start to life. Because she needed strict rest, she spent many months recovering in a cage where her only regular companion was another patient, a male cat who had also lost one of his back legs. The two became unlikely friends, spending their recovery together and offering each other quiet company through a difficult period.
Today, those days are firmly behind her.
Like many dogs who lose a limb early in life, Asera adapted remarkably well and now moves with incredible confidence. She runs, plays, climbs, and chases toys with the same enthusiasm as any four legged dog. Three legged dogs naturally learn to redistribute their weight as they grow, and Asera has done exactly that. Future adopters simply need to help her maintain a healthy body condition throughout her life to minimise unnecessary strain on her remaining joints. Otherwise, she requires no special treatment and enjoys a completely normal, active lifestyle.
Asera is an exceptionally intelligent dog who enjoys learning and picks up new routines very quickly. She responds well to positive reinforcement and would thrive in a home where training continues to be part of everyday life. Puzzle toys, enrichment activities, scent games, and learning new commands would all suit her active mind.
She is also an extremely social dog. Asera loves playing with other dogs and gets along very well with both dogs and cats. Her only challenge is that she sometimes forgets just how enthusiastic she is. She throws herself wholeheartedly into play and can occasionally be a little too energetic for quieter or more delicate companions. Confident, playful dogs who enjoy active games are likely to be her ideal match.
Asera is equally wonderful with people. She enjoys attention, loves being included in family life, and is very good with children. Although she has an adventurous spirit and plenty of energy outdoors, she also has a softer side. Once the day’s excitement is over, she is perfectly happy curling up beside her family for a well deserved nap.
She already walks nicely on a lead and enjoys exploring new places. Like many young dogs, she can occasionally become excited by interesting sights or smells and may weave happily from side to side during walks, but she is eager to learn and continues to improve with consistency and guidance.
Perhaps the best way to describe Asera is that she is a complete tomboy. She would much rather be running through fields, chasing toys, exploring woodland paths, or inventing games than sitting quietly looking elegant. She approaches life with confidence, determination, and a wonderful sense of fun that is genuinely infectious.
Asera has already overcome enormous challenges during the very beginning of her life, but none of those experiences have taken away her joy or her ability to trust. She is now ready for the one thing she has been working towards ever since her rescue: a permanent home where she can continue living the active, happy life she loves, surrounded by people who see her not as a three legged dog, but simply as an extraordinary one.
