Shiva

Shiva

Shiva is a truly impressive girl, a large and powerful dog with the heart of a gentle guardian. She’s the kind of dog people notice immediately because of her size and presence but anyone who spends even a few minutes with her quickly discovers how soft, affectionate, and deeply loving she really is.

Description

Despite her strong appearance, Shiva is calm with people and genuinely enjoys human company. She likes being close to her humans, quietly observing everything around her while soaking up affection and reassurance. There is something deeply comforting about her presence, steady, loyal, and protective in a way that feels natural rather than forced.

Shiva was removed from the streets because people found her intimidating simply due to her size and appearance. Sadly, large guardian-type dogs are often misunderstood, especially when they are homeless. But Shiva never wanted trouble. Underneath her imposing exterior is simply a dog who wants safety, stability, and somewhere she finally belongs.

She is currently waiting in boarding kennels, hoping someone will look past first impressions and see the beautiful soul underneath.

Based on both her appearance and behaviour, Shiva almost certainly has a lot of livestock guardian breed ancestry in her. Dogs of this type are known for being intelligent, observant, loyal, and naturally protective of their territory and the people they love. Unlike dogs bred to constantly seek direction from humans, guardian breeds tend to think independently and assess situations for themselves. They often form incredibly deep bonds with their families and can be calm and gentle at home, while still remaining naturally alert to their surroundings.

Because of this, Shiva will do best with an owner who understands strong guardian-type dogs and can provide calm leadership, structure, consistency, and clear boundaries. She is not a difficult dog, but she is not the kind of dog who should simply be left to figure everything out on her own. Like many livestock guardian mixes, she will thrive when she feels secure, understood, and properly guided.

Shiva can be selective with some female dogs and would do best either as the only female dog in the home or with very careful introductions and management. An experienced, confident owner who understands dog behaviour will be important for her success. With people, however, she is affectionate, loving, and eager to connect.

She deserves a home where her size is not feared, but appreciated. A home where her protective instincts are respected and guided properly, not punished. A home where she can finally relax, stretch out comfortably, and stop carrying the burden of surviving on the streets.

Shiva is not just a “big dog.” She is a loyal companion, a gentle protector, and a deeply loving soul who has so much to offer the right person. Underneath her powerful frame is simply a dog waiting for someone to finally see her for who she truly is.
