Being so young, Besa is still learning about everything around her. Every sound, every scent, and every new face is an adventure. She watches older dogs with curiosity, mimicking their movements and trying to understand the world through their actions. Playful and energetic, she loves to engage in puppy antics—chasing after her tail, pouncing on imaginary foes, and tumbling around with her shelter mates. However, as much fun as she has with the other dogs, what she truly craves is the love and attention of a family of her own.
Because Besa has spent her early months in a shelter, she has not yet experienced the comforts of home life. She is not toilet trained or leash trained, simply because she has never had the opportunity to learn. Everything about being in a home—stairs, carpets, beds, and the sounds of daily life—will be completely new to her. She will need a patient adopter who is willing to teach her with kindness and consistency, guiding her through the basics of house manners and helping her gain confidence.
Like many shepherd mixes, Besa will likely grow into an intelligent and loyal dog. Shepherds are known for their deep bond with their humans, their eagerness to learn, and their protective instincts. While she is still too young to fully display these traits, it’s likely that she will develop into a devoted companion who will always want to be by your side. Mental stimulation and regular training will be important for her, as intelligent breeds thrive when given tasks to do and opportunities to engage their minds.
Despite her lack of experience outside of shelter life, Besa is friendly and social. She enjoys the company of other dogs and would likely do well in a home with another playful canine companion. She has not yet been tested with cats, but given her young age, she can likely learn to coexist peacefully with them with the right introductions. She would also be a great fit for a family with children, as long as they understand that she is still a puppy and needs gentle guidance.
Besa is too young to have faced the hardships that many older shelter dogs have endured, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve a loving home just as much. Growing up in a shelter means missing out on the warmth of a bed, the joy of playtime in a yard, and the reassurance of a human to call her own. She has her whole life ahead of her—years of companionship, love, and happiness waiting to unfold.
She has been given all the necessary veterinary care, including vaccinations, and will be spayed before adoption. Now, all she needs is a chance.
