At his core, Antonio is deeply affectionate and incredibly people-oriented. He loves with his whole body, full tail wags, leaning into you with all his weight, and happily invading your personal space just to feel close. He thrives on interaction and connection, forming strong bonds and making his humans the center of his world. His love is not subtle, it is big, physical, and full of character.
Antonio is also extremely food-motivated or as we might say, “food-positive.” Food is his passion, his inspiration, and quite possibly his life philosophy. He is highly engaged when treats or meals are involved, which makes him very responsive and potentially easy to train with the right approach. However, his enthusiasm for food also comes with a tendency to be very focused on anything edible (or possibly edible), so some management and structure around food will be important.
One of Antonio’s most unique traits is his way of communicating. When he feels he’s not getting enough attention, he has developed a habit of giving small, strategic pinches with his front teeth, usually to a thigh or nearby target. This is not aggressive behavior, but rather his learned (and admittedly cheeky) way of saying “hey, don’t forget about me.” That said, this behavior will need guidance and redirection in a home environment, as he learns more appropriate ways to seek attention.
He gets along well with other dogs and is generally social in canine company. His behavior with cats is currently unknown and would need to be tested, particularly considering his curious and interactive personality. Any introductions to other animals should be done thoughtfully and gradually.
Antonio is an intelligent, expressive dog who will benefit from an experienced owner who understands strong personalities and is willing to provide structure, consistency, and clear boundaries.
